Welcome to Wainuiomata High School, a signatory to the New Zealand Ministry of Education's Code of Practice for International Students.

Wainuiomata High School offers a supportive and challenging centre of learning for all students.  We place high expectations on students to set and achieve goals for themselves. We provide our students with a modern school, excellent facilities, a truly modern curriculum and a committed staff.

Location and Facilities

The High School is in Wainuiomata, a suburb of Lower Hutt, only 15 kilometres from the centre of Wellington, the capital city. It is a medium sized co-educational school of about 860 students.

Our facilities have been heavily rebuilt and upgraded since 2002, and are now among the best in the Wellington region. They include:

  • An auditorium, capable of seating 500, with facilities for performance of musical and stage shows
  • A purpose-built Student Services Centre
  • Five computer laboratories
  • A Library with study and computer facilities
  • A Technology centre
  • Two full size gymnasiums and a weight training facility
  • Six science laboratories
  • Modern classroom facilities
  • Extensive floodlit sports fields
