Student Stories
I liked the nature around Wainuiomata, particularly the birds. The students were friendly and the teachers helpful. I tried lots of different courses and my English improved lots!
My homestay family treated me like a family member and the food was great! I enjoyed my travels in New Zealand.

While studying at Wainuiomata High School, I like the New Zealand education system because I could study what I wanted to do. My favourite subject was Tourism. I gained credits towards NCEA while at school. My Parents were very pleased! My Homestay was really good. It was like a real family. So I felt very comfortable. The students at Wainuiomata High School are nice and friendly. My English has improved and now I feel more confident speaking, writing and reading in English. I really enjoyed my South Island trip I did with New Zealand Education Tours. The Bungy jump was REALLY scary, but I did it. It was great talking to other International Students on this trip. When I go back to Korea, I will go back to my High School and then go to University.

Wainuiomata High School is a good place for German students to come to because it’s really different from the German school system and it's good to have this experience. It is good to experience the different cultures. It is good because there are people who care about you at the school and it is a great experience.

I’ve been in Wainuiomata High School for one and a half years. I’ve spent a happy time with my friend and teachers. My favourite subject is Photography. I can know the good points of Wainuiomata again by taking photographs. Wainuiomata High School has many fun events in a year. Teachers and students genuinely enjoy them.

I have been at Wainuiomata High School for 2 years, and a half year left. I have met lots of different people since coming here, and met some important people for me. All teachers and staff memners are friendly and helpful. I’m staying with my host family; they are very nice and treat me as a real family member. I have experienced lots of new things at this school and they are really good memories. The life at Wainuiomata High School has changed me. I am glad that I made the choice to come here!

Wainuiomata High School is the best school to go to in New Zealand. It was really easy to make Kiwi friends. My host mother was like a second mother to me! The Dean of International Students and the Homestay Coordinator were always there for me, were really easy to talk to and took me and the other international students out on fun activities. Thank you. I actually really think I am so lucky that I went to Wainuiomata High School. Just because we were the only German International Students and all the Kiwis were interested in us. And that made it really easy to find awesome friends.
