We were delighted to host the Prime Minister, Jacinda Ardern and the Education Minister, Chris Hipkins for an hour on Monday 03 September. And just as importantly we were delighted to hear that the Government are going to give us $24 million to upgrade the buildings at Wainuiomata High School.

As well as speaking at a full school assembly the Prime Minister and Education Minister attended a class for 20 minutes.  This class was 9E and they had been studying “leadership” with their Social Studies teacher, Roy McGrath and one of our Trainee Teachers, Adelaide Taylor.

The Prime Minister showed genuine warmth and interest during her time in the classroom and answered all the questions given to her by the students.

Again, I was incredibly proud of our students; they sat respectfully and listened to the speeches, performed our school haka with pride and passion, and waited patiently until the Prime Minister left the school grounds.
