PORTALINTERNATIONAL

Tēnākoutou katoa,

My name is Keelan Renata, I’m the Student Representative on the Wainuiomata High School Board.  This role requires me to listen to the feedback of students and last year Uniform was a hot topic.  As a result, I sent out a survey in May last year to formally capture feedback on Uniform to the school community (both parents and students) to seek their views on how uniform could be improved here at Wainuiomata High School.

Uniforms sit under Board responsibility and the Board appointed a Uniform Sub-Committee to review the feedback.  This committee is made up of myself, two of our Board members, the Head Students, the Tumuaki and the Senior Leadership Team.

Following review of the survey feedback, the Uniform Sub-Committee has been working towards adding a school hoodie to our Uniform collection.   Our students would like a school hoodie, and this will reduce the amount of time our teachers are currently spending dealing with students wearing non-uniform hoodies, allowing them to focus on the most important things like teaching.  A hoodie will also be warmer than the school jumper which will be great for the coming winter months.

Whilst we don’t have all the details just yet, I wanted to give you a heads up that this is coming and one thing I can assure you is that the cost will be less than the current green jumper.   We expect the school hoodie to be ready by the middle of Term 3 2024 – but will confirm that as soon as we can.

Any questions can be emailed through to hayleyl@wainuiomatahigh.school.nz who will pass them on to me and to the High School Board and Uniform Sub-Committee for discussion.

Noho ora mai,

Keelan Renata,

Student Representative,
